    Hola,

Is Porsche preparing a special edition of the GT3 RS with a 4.0-liter engine and 500 horsepower? According to a poster at Teamspeed who claims to have a leaked order sheet, Porsche will announce specifications of such a car within the next few weeks.

If the document is to believed, the GT3 RS 4.0 Limited Edition will have a 4.0-liter flat-six engine producing 500 horsepower, mated to a traditional six-speed manual transmission. It’s said to cost a cool €150,000 (about $216,000) before taxes. The extensive options list features parts like carbon-fiber interior trim, a roll bar, and a fire extinguisher. For comparison, the standard GT3 RS road car has a 450-horsepower, 3.8-liter flat-six engine, and costs $135,500.

The idea is that this car is based on the track-only 911 GT3 RSR that launched in December 2010. The RSR has a 4.0-liter engine rated for 455 horsepower and coupled to a six-speed sequential transmission. A GT3 RS 4.0 would reportedly be sold in extremely small numbers as a tribute to the RSR racer.

Detracting from the document’s authenticity are the facts that it lists the car’s model year as 2011 — by now most manufacturers are debuting their 2012 products — and misspells one option, “Porsche Ceramic Composite Break.” Moreover, the high-tech stoppers are standard on the 911 Turbo S — would they really be a €7320 option on a high-performance special-edition car?

The official word is “no comment”. Porsche spokesman Dave Engelman told us the document was “quite interesting” but that, as a rule, he couldn’t talk about future products. Do you believe Porsche will launch a higher-performance GT3 RS in the coming weeks? Let us know in the comments section below.
