The Porsche engineering office was founded by Ferdinand Porsche on April 25, 1931. The forefather to all Porsche sportscars, the Porsche 64 racing car was made in 1939. In 1948 F.Porsche's son Ferdinand Anton Ernst "Ferry" Porsche started the production of Porsche sportscars with the 356. The successor to the 356, the 911, was designed by F.Porsche's grandson and Ferry Porsche's son, Ferdinand Alexander "Butzi" Porsche.
